We have raised over £16,000 for Cardiac Risk in the Young. CRY is a charity very close to North Dorset's heart after losing our Club Captain, Max Biles at the age of 29 in 2009 following a sudden cardiac arrest.
In the UK, approximately 30,000 people will experience an out of hospital cardiac arrest every year and currently less than 1 in 10 will survive. Early CPR can double the chance of survival and so this year we are teaming up with local first aid trainers and South Western Ambulance to train as many NDR7s attendees in CPR as possible. For every person trained over the weekend, Johnson's will donate £1 to CRY. Come and have a go at our fun interactive game, learn lifesaving skills and raise money at the same time!
There will also be representatives from the Resuscitation Council UK on hand to offer information about the new "Resuscitation on the field of play - best practice guidelines". These guidelines provide community and professional sports organisations with an evidenced based framework for the resuscitation of athletes who have a sudden cardiac arrest during organised sporting activity to give them the best chance of survival. Come and find out what more your club can do at the CPR stand. https://www.resus.org.uk/get-
